Cathy Schiller Everts

I graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science. I have a teacher's certificate in general education and special education. I received a Masters of Education.I taught as a special education teacher for Wayne County RESA and Detroit Public Schools and taught there for 31 years until I retired. A family moved resulted in living in Newark, Delaware. I became an Educational Diagnostician for Christina School District; Christiana High School. I taught through the 2019-2020 until I retired.

I moved back to Michigan and it feels good to be homesick.

While in high school and college, I was a member of Civil Air Patrol. I received a flying scholarship and I was a guest of England for almost a month. We lived with different English families and saw so many things that a tourist would never have the opportunity to see. While in England I flew in a glider and in helicopters.

I now basket weave, work with fiber, knit? crochet and weave.

I have two daughters, Kirsten and Lori. I am a grandmother thanks to Lori and her husband. One girl, Leslie, 3 years old and Lucas a year old. They are the loves of my life.

I was extremely shy from elementary school until I was a senior in high school. I auditioned a special dance group where we learned how choreography. It really broke me out of my shell.
